Barton Sloane
bombMARFA

stella wuz here / prada marfa

drawings at castelli in symmetry / 15 untitled works in concrete

fuck dia / 15 untitled works in concrete

bochner measurement / ballroom marfa

manifest destiny / clarence judd architecture offices

i have been thinking about marfa lately.
planning a project there for the summer.
here's to hoping things proceed without a hitch.
because when i think about new york summers
and long subway rides in the heat and
astronomical rents with no space and little
to no pay i feel ready for the 12 hour drive and
lots of afternoon straight whiskeys playing hank williams and
having a hell of a texas time while still getting my
pseudo-intellectual fix.

a message
Sunday, August 3, 2008
there is no reason why i should be telling anyone about this except that i have a blog and can subject you to my whims
if you must know what i am doing right now
i am drunk
and sweaty
from the heat of
the outdoors and
parties
and i am listening to this

while trying to read this

it was a very bad idea.
a little overwhelming
to say the least.
in fact it all just makes me want to
bang my head against a hard surface
while wailing unintelligible intonations.
EEEHUIHUIHUIHUIHUIHUIHUI
(you said it ms. monk)
i'm going to go do something sensible now.

(projs) \|/ (probs)

i woke up early thinking about what i was going to do next year
with a*space next year and whatnot
what with the booking for the first six weeks having fallen through.
having to wait on those projects, i thought about my
biweekly "bootleg video series" that i wanted to do.
so i started on a flyer
because i figured if it sat on my desktop
just glaring at me with those blank helvetica eyes
i would actually follow through with my plans
eventually
while i was making it, too, i realized that i am SO CLOSE to coming to a point where I feel really comfortable with my itunes library
for years, bobbing around forty gigs, but never being really happy
now we can just go round and round on random with rarely a skip
compared to the old days
(yay)
of course
all this will probably change
once i go back to sarah lawrence
and the ultimate self-consciousness sets in...

surprise of the day
more proof that i went to the wrong school
(from art21)
"The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has an amazing program where students can borrow a framed work by major artists from their List Visual Arts Center’s collection for an entire academic year. The Student Loan Art Program was founded in 1996 and boasts of over 400 pieces with which your dormroom can be beautified. There are plenty of big names on the list including Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Sol LeWitt, and Ed Ruscha to name a few, as well as many Art:21 artists like Allora & Calzadilla, Ida Applebroog, Roni Horn, Gabriel Orozco, Susan Rothenberg, Collier Schorr, Laurie Simmons, Nancy Spero, Richard Tuttle, and Fred Wilson."
Official MIT Link
FUCK.
that's just ridiculous.
how do they even insure the work?
i am crying on the inside.
